Emisphere Technologies, Inc. (OTCMKTS:EMIS) Severely Corrected

Emisphere Technologies, Inc. (OTCMKTS:EMIS) had a great run in the second half of last month that pushed it significantly up the charts on increased volumes. Unfortunately, the ticker began to hesitate in the beginning of this month and came crashing down.

After losing 10.59% in Wednesday’s session we saw EMIS drop a further 15.13% down the charts yesterday, closing at $0.65. The volume was well above the average and the 355 thousand shares that changed their owners generated $252 thousand in daily trade value.

The reason for the poor performance lately might be the lack of press releases. After all the $39 million market cap that EMIS currently commands is far lower from that of other entities in the industry that have far less to offer.

  • cash: $10.4 million
  • current assets: $12.7 million
  • current liabilities: $21.7 million
  • quarterly revenues: $373 thousand
  • quarterly net loss: $1.8 million

Those numbers are pretty decent and EMIS is certainly making progress if you compare them to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the company has made a very lucrative deal with Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO) which will help it tremendously.

Overall, EMIS is a pretty decent player in the pharmaceutical industry, but that doesn’t mean that you should skip doing your due diligence and weighing out the risks before putting any money on the line.
