Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTCMKTS:LWLG) Surges On News

[[tagnumber 0]][[tagnumber 1]]The past several months went pretty badly for the stock of Lighwave Logic, Inc. (OTCMKTS:LWLG) which lost a significant portion of its value. The last time that we wrote about the company stock it had just received a serious blow and the trading volumes indicated that a lot of people were getting cold feet.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]This was back in May and the ticker continued to slowly slide in the next month and a half. The reason for the bad performance was obvious. The company’s report for the first quarter of the year came out and, despite the fact that the numbers were pretty decent compared to other OTC entities, it wasn’t to the liking of the investors.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 9]] [[tagnumber 10]]cash: $2.3 million[[tagnumber 11]] [[tagnumber 10]]current assets: $2.4 million[[tagnumber 11]] [[tagnumber 10]]current liabilities: $341 thousand[[tagnumber 11]] [[tagnumber 10]]revenues: ZERO[[tagnumber 11]] [[tagnumber 10]]quarterly net loss: $1 million[[tagnumber 11]] [[tagnumber 20]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]These numbers are pretty good, but there is another problem. As we wrote in our previous article the company’s electrooptic polymer technology should have been commercialized in 2013. So far, the company has pushed that date three times with the latest estimate being 2016.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]On Wednesday the company issued a very optimistic press release that announced some positive results from tests performed on their product. This caused [[tagnumber 28]]LWLG[[tagnumber 29]] to go up by 6.56% the same day and the ticker added another 13.85% in yesterday’s session. Unfortunately, [[tagnumber 28]]LWLG[[tagnumber 29]] can obliterate these gains pretty fast as we see that the company stock is already 8.11% in today’s trading.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]As we have said time and time again, [[tagnumber 28]]LWLG[[tagnumber 29]] is certainly a longterm investment, but the serious delays might make even the most determined investor to start rethinking his decisions.[[tagnumber 2]]
