Alkaline Water Co., Inc. (OTCBB:WTER) Crashes by Nearly 40%
Remember when we wondered if the Alkaline Water Co., Inc. (OTCBB:WTER) would survive the weekend? Well, Friday turned out to be a carnage, despite the somehow hopeful beginning of the day. Selling began in earnest, more than 8 million shares were sold. WTER slid down more than 38%, on dollar volumes above $6.65 million. WTER now hangs around 70 cents, after hovering above the dollar for a few days.
Friday was also a quiet day on the promotional scene, with no new press releases or emails. It seems also that the paper mailer heyday happened last week, and in the next few days it will be the long, sad tail of a one-off wonder stock. Despite all the promises that WTER managed to send its water cases to supermarkets, and even plan a new production plant for 2014, for now the ticker seems doomed.
And discussions about the distribution are turning out interesting discoveries- that actually WTER‘s brand is not available in supermarkets, not even in online stores. All of this comes at a time when the markets are oversaturated with specialty and “designer” waters, which even start to invite mockery over hyping a very ordinary product.
Still, there is talk of a rebounce if the price slides to low enough levels and starts looking like a bargain again. And the book values of WTER may give some investors enough confidence, as for now WTER is equipped with:
- cash: $384 thousand
- total assets: $580 thousand
- current and total liabilities: $37 thousand
- revenue for Q2: $32 thousand
- net loss for Q2: $182 thousand
But rebounces are hardly reliable. Let’s see how another company set up for a comeback is doing. Montalvo Spirits, Inc. (OTCBB:TQLA) is seeing a very slim gain after crashing form a dollar to 30 cents. Now TQLA is moving between 30 and 40 cents, but volumes are low.
SmallCap Network, the last pumper for WTER by email, has not taken another ticker yet. But its previous selection, Nortstra Energy, Inc. (OTCMKTS:NORX) had unfortunate days, being suspended for a while, then trying to get up from lower levels.
In case you are still looking at WTER for a bargain chance, keep in mind that this stock is already leaking, being sold off when the price is right. Do not invest unaffordable sums, and do your due diligence so as not to be swayed by the hype of marketing success.
