Alkaline Water Co, Inc. (OTCBB:WTER) Keeps Levels on Cautious Buying
Buying returned, though rather slim, for the Alkaline Water Co, Inc. (OTCBB:WTER). And the promotion seems to have run its course of late, stopping on August 28th. So the company did what it does best- another press release on promising distribution, along with just waiting to see if the paper mailer would cause an improved effect.
And now WTER has attached itself to yet another distributor, this time KeHE Distributors Inc., still awaiting the final results as more and more of the alkaline water bottles hit supermarket shelves. It is still unknown where the products of WTER would be sold most, whether to big supermarket chains, or to small-scale local retailers of organic goods.
But WTER enters mid-week trading from just 58 cents, after adding a bit more than 4%, as trading volumes retreated to just $310,000, a volume quite weak for a widely promoted stock. Now, the new shorter week will indicate if all the efforts were in vain.
Strangely, the WTER promotion uses a mention that top investor Warren Buffet owns shares in the Coca-Cola Company, putting all beverage businesses in one category. While producing drinks is almost always a business that could see development, a lot of penny stocks rarely manage to break through well enough.
Bebida Beverage, Co. (OTCMKTS:BBDA) hardly managed to move beyond 10 cents in the past three years, and only traded more actively with the boost from promoters. While its range of drinks sounded promising, it never translated into a sustained and respectable ticker position. BBDA became a short-term speculative bid, sinking lower and lower.
And bigger and better companies are not immune. Alcoholic drinks are a bit different, but a lot of promotions look similar. A combination of a paper mailer and emails lifted up Montalvo Spirits, Inc. (OTCBB:TQLA) high enough, but since then the ticker moved far away from the $1 levels.
While WTER may have longer-term potential, a lot of otherwise solid companies go through a shakeup on the stock markets before they return. And for WTER, the widespread and expensive campaign is starting to go stale, pointing to lessening trade and perhaps a significant price correction.
If messages of WTER landed on your doorstep or in your inbox, or if you otherwise find this company interesting, it is best to invest only affordable sums and not trust too much in the upward potential of the ticker.
