Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTI) Still Looking Strong in the Pre-Market
[[tagnumber 0]]Shares of Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTI) made another huge spike out of the trading range during yesterday‘s trading session. The stock has gained further in the pre–market today and it looks like more traders can jump in. ASTI got higher volatility on the announcement that an investor can sell a large amount of newly registered shares on the market.[[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 2]][[tagnumber 3]][[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 2]]Yesterday, ASTI closed the session at $0.203 for a share which is an impressive over 40% gain from the previous session close. Though the chart looks very bullish with all technical indicators pointing straight up, trading volumes are declining and that could be a signal that ASTI could drop back down to the bottom very soon.[[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 2]]The company is a manufacturer of photovoltaic modules, however, the business has never been profitable and the sales remain very tiny. ASTI also has almost no cash on hand to sustain its operations and there is a gap in the available working capital. The stock has high dilution risks as well, apart from the bad operational outlooks.[[tagnumber 8]][[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 2]]Among the company‘s short–term liabilities are convertible notes in the amount of around $2 million issued in September this year. The notes are convertible any time, at the option of the holder and the conversion price is fixed at $0.12, however, they cannot be issued without the approval of the existing shareholders. On the next meeting this month, ASTI will seek such approval on a special shareholder meeting.[[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 2]]Meanwhile, the company also filed a registration statement for another 30 million shares of its common stock. According to the prospectus filed last week, the holder of the shares who is also the underwriter, can sell the shares in a number of different transactions and at variable prices. This should at least improve the liquidity of the stock.[[tagnumber 1]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 1]]
