Sigma Labs, Inc. (OTCMKTS:SGLB) Off to a Wobbly Start in 2014
After closing 2013 with a bang, having climbed from $0.01 to $0.17 per share over the calendar year, Sigma Labs, Inc. (OTCMKTS:SGLB) seems to be off to a shaky start in 2014. Sigma started the year with a slow session but Friday brought back heavy volume to the ticker. Unfortunately, SGLB found itself 10% down by the bell, at its lowest close since late October.
SGLB shifted over 11 million shares without publishing any new filings or press releases. The latest bit of news coming from the company was the announcement that Sigma delivered two of its PrintRite additive manufacturing quality control systems to a ‘leading aerospace company’. With the release coming in late December, SGLB has not been doing particularly well since it was posted. The price has slipped about 20% since the announcement, even if supporters of the ticker consider it a major step towards commercialization of PrintRite – Sigma’s flagship product.
Supporters of SGLB also keep a feverish eye on any and all announcements of big companies mentioning 3D printing plans for the future. SGLB‘s involvement in such future projects is neither confirmed, nor very likely to take place soon, as the company still has a way to go before it launches PrintRite as a commercially exploitable platform.
The feedback Sigma receives from Honeywell Aerospace (who are currently testing PrintRite on a recently extended contract) and from the newly announced ‘leading aerospace company’ will affect the ticker in a significant way. A warm welcome and MOUs turning into revenue-generating contracts could send the stock price much higher that its current levels.
The patience and support of long investors may be tested further, as SGLB will probably not be able to chime in with successful commercialization news for PrintRite in Q1 of this year, but this is all guesswork, as the company announced it will happen in ‘fiscal 2014’. For now, investors will have to roll with the punches and hope that the price will stabilize and attempt a new climb to its late November highs.
