Stock Mister and SuperDirectories Inc (PINK:SDIR) Rule the Internet

SDIR.pngYou would have probably encountered at one point or another a service or a product that sounds perfectly reasonable in theory but, in practice, it’s almost completely useless. In our humble opinion, the directory search websites on the Internet are a prime example. As you’d have probably guessed, this is exactly what SuperDirectories Inc (PINK:SDIR) have.

For those of you who are not familiar with these portals, we’ll give you a brief description. Basically, instead of opening Google search, you go to a website like superdirectories.com (the one SDIR have developed), where everything is supposed to be neatly organized into categories. You start looking for what you need, you open all sorts of directories, you get confused, you curse, you open Google and within a couple of seconds, you have found the product or service you need.

Well, that’s according to our experience, anyway. We shouldn’t be as hard on these websites, however, since there are apparently people who are using them. SDIR, for example, say that as many as 10.8 million people viewed their website back in October which, of course, is getting them one step closer to the so-far elusive revenue. They also say that they have 992 thousand banners there.

We were rather curious to find out if all this is true and so we eagerly typed the URL into the address bar. After a frustrating few minutes during which we had to figure out for ourselves that the website will only open if you put the www. in front, we managed to bring it to life.

SDIR_logo.jpgFirst thing’s first, we spent quite a while browsing through different categories and we saw only 1 (one) banner advertising deep sea fishing. No trace of any other sort of annoying brightly colored animations normally associated with this sort of websites. We figured that the advertisers have yet to discover SuperDirectories’ somewhat questionable potential and so we went on to check the functionality of the website. We started clicking randomly on links provided by the developers and ended up in a directory called “Animal Science Software” (we’re sure that someone out there is looking for just such a thing). In this particular directory, there was only one link and it led us to… Google. Now, if you are searching for animal science software, you can get to the Google page with a lot less clicks, don’t you think?

Still, we reminded ourselves that we must remain unbiased, and checked the SDIR‘s financials to see if they will be able to even continue running the website in the future. We’d say that, at best, it will be difficult. You can have a look through the figures yourself:

  • cash: $24 thousand
  • current assets: $49 thousand
  • current liabilities: $401 thousand
  • no revenue
  • net loss for the fiscal 2012: $158 thousand
  • net loss since inception: $8.8 million

One more thing, that might hamper the website’s progress is the fact that there is only one full-time employee. Mr. Luke Lalonde is responsible for developing and maintaining the website, which is difficult in its own right, but he also serves the role of CEO and president. Having that in mind, it’s would be only normal if he receives a hefty compensation for his services. Unfortunately, due to the lack of money, the Board of Directors are forced to pay Mr. Lalonde with shares… quite a lot of them. According to the financial statement he has a more than 850 million common shares, and 1 series A preferred stock, which he can convert at any time into 3.2 billion common shares. Imagine what sort of profit he can make out of this one.

FUEG.pngWith all this in mind, we’re pretty sure that SDIR is just the next in a long line of Stock Mister’s failed alerts, and it will soon go down just like SDIR‘s website when you forget the www. An example of a Stock Mister flop is Intake Communications Inc. (OTC:FUEG), who were pumped back in December and have since then crashed hard.
