Worlds Inc (OTCMKTS:WDDD) Attracts Investor Attention
[[tagnumber 0]][[tagnumber 1]]We haven’t covered the stock of Worlds Inc (OTCMKTS:WDDD) for quite some time now. The reason for this is pretty obvious. The stock was quietly descending down the charts without attracting a lot of investor attention.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]It really couldn’t be any other way considering the business model of [[tagnumber 6]]WDDD.[[tagnumber 7]] In short, [[tagnumber 6]]WDDD[[tagnumber 7]] is a patent troll and its operations rely solely on intellectual property. So far, however, the company has done a pretty good job of upsetting investors with its financial reports. Here is just an example of some of the numbers contained in their report covering the first quarter of the year.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 13]] [[tagnumber 14]]cash: $11,208[[tagnumber 15]] [[tagnumber 14]]current assets: $11,208!!![[tagnumber 15]] [[tagnumber 14]]current liabilities: $4,253,260[[tagnumber 15]] [[tagnumber 14]]revenues: ZERO!!![[tagnumber 15]] [[tagnumber 14]]net loss: $2,626,713[[tagnumber 15]] [[tagnumber 24]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]That’s pretty appalling. But the company has decided to chase big money and has targeted Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) as a defendant in a patent infringement lawsuit. It is quite interesting how things will turn out in the end.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]Patent trolls usually just sit around and wait for someone to create something that they have vaguely described in a submitted patent application that then gets approved. [[tagnumber 6]]WDDD[[tagnumber 7]] is no different. The patent lawsuit was filed all the way back in 2012 and it is still continuing.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]This is where things get ridiculous. Yesterday the company announced a favorable Markman ruling for the case which was awaited from quite some time. When you get to page 33–34 of the you see that apparently it’s okay to sue someone for creating a world where a player can view what’s happening around him in a third person perspective using a drawing of a couple of penguins chatting in a checkered floor room.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]Still, [[tagnumber 6]]WDDD’s[[tagnumber 7]] Friday bounce of 47.84% was not supported by anything and didn’t manage to attract a lot of investor attention. As the ticker climbed 15.30% to a close at $0.15 yesterday, however, we saw a total of 3.1 million shares changing their owners and generating $494 thousand in daily dollar volume.[[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]] [[tagnumber 2]] [[tagnumber 0]]Unfortunately, when you consider the lack of financial power that [[tagnumber 6]]WDDD[[tagnumber 7]] displays we are not very confident that their claim will hold against the lawyers of [[tagnumber 6]]ATVI.[[tagnumber 7]] Doing your due diligence and weighing out the risks before putting any money on the line is absolutely crucial.[[tagnumber 2]]
